CYA Logo

This is the newest design I am working on.

My hubby and a friend started a Paving Company that Reseals driveways. So I am creating a bag for his truck for all the paper work they carry. This is the Picture of the design.

Splash Down Beta

My newest bag is a Beta fish. I have always loved Beta fish, in fact we have gone through several. You can see my previous beta fish experiment was with a Bead Crochet bag. Sir Carl and Captain Jack. Those can be see at http://www.hurricane-designs.com/CaptJackSirCarl.htm and also at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sir-carl-and-captain-jack-bead-crochet-fish. My new Splash Down Beta is a design I am proud of. I really enjoyed the pattern and thought it turned out ok. I was suprised. I should have made the splash bigger but next time maybe.

Free Patterns for Bead Crochet

I am posting here 2 free designs for the amulets that I designed some time bag. One is a amulet called Minnie and one is called Smarties.

Loading Beads onto the Cotton from the Hanks:
You will be transferring them from one sting to the other. At this point you will only put up to 6 stands. Too many at one time will get tangled.
Note: This piece is worked in same direction. Do not turn.
Base: Chain 6 – join.
BEAD LOOP Round
Tassel for Bottom: go through the center bring up as if to sc. Do not complete sc, slide 30 beads down then close around them. That made one single crochet with beads in the middle of that SC. Repeat this 12 times. Join in the top of the first of the 10 loops
Rd 1: Ch 1, sc in same space you joined in. Sc around all the 12 loops, slip in first ch to join.
Rd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sp, (* 2 sc in next sp, 1 sc in next * repeat) this will give you 18 sc. Join.
Rd 3: Ch 1, sc in same sp, (* 2 sc in next sp, 1 sc in next * repeat) this will give you 24 sc. Join.
Rd 4: Ch 1, sc in same sp, (*2 sc in next sp, 1 sc in next * repeat) this will give you 30 sc. Join.
BEAD Round
Rd 5: Ch 1 slide bead (counts as SC with bead) - (*Sc Bead*) completely around.
Rd 6: Ch 2, Hdc in same space, Hdc 1 time in next space then HDC 2 times in next hole.

You will be transferring them from one sting to the other. At this point you will only put up to 6 stands. Too many at one time will get tangled.
Notes: With this pattern you are working 2 parts – Front and Back. I work them in 2 pieces and then sew them together. You may choose to recreate the back the same as the front. Or you may just use HDC and complete leave beads off all together.
When HDC with Beads – You will Wrap your thread once go in next space, slide beads down then close by wrapping and bringing that through all loops.

Tie Off

At this point you can do one of two things as I mentioned above. You can Repeat this and Sew the two sides together. Or you can attach your self to the bottom and following these steps but minus the beads so that you have only a Stitched back. Both the pieces I have made I did not duplicate the front. I had stitched back only.

For the handle I crocheted a chain with a bead in each 3rd stitch. Then I attached it to the top sides of the back from the inside.
Welcome to Hurricane Designs!! So many years I crocheted. Then I knitted, then I made jewelry, Now I crochet AGAIN. I do it all actually. I like different things. However, recently I am hooked on Crochet again. Thanks to Carol Ventura and Tapestry Crochet. I have made so many bags with Tapestry Crochet. I love it. I need to move on to Bead crochet and design some new bags. I actually have on in mind. But not yet.

I will be added and updating this site as time goes by, so hang in there.
