Here we are at Monday again. The weekends go too fast. I didn't teach this weekend and miss it. Things have been so busy. I am working on new pieces but mostly jewelry. I was trying to make a HAT for a Tester group on Ravelry but can't seem to get answers from the designer about the pattern. UGH

Spring Maybe

I hope everyone had a great Vaneltine's Day!! I don't necessarily care for V Day. It's just another day for people to spen unnecessary money on gifts. I want to be speciall all year not just one day a year. Cards are nice but that's it. I like Birthdays myself. I am lucky to have them so I like to celebrate them.

I have added a picture of my son here from a couple of years ago. We were at my friends house in Florida and went to see her Brothers plane. COOL .

NEW Year not so Nice.

The first week of the New Year has not been very kind. My Mom had a stroke and my Dad had an episode. Not sure what that is yet but he passes out and turns blue. Obvioulsy a lack of Oxygen. They are both home now at least only to be stuck in a snow storm. UGH. I have not been able to get many crafts done but I am working on Fingerless mittens. I have been trying different patterns. I think I finally found a pair I like. Will let you know.

Christmas Week

I can't believe it is Christmas Week. I made three shawls this past month. The white one is for mom for Christmas, i hope she likes it. I made a cream color one for me like the White one as well. I am making a red one like the blue one for someone at work. LOL

If my arm didn't swell I would be good.

WOW here it is November and I can't keep up. I have been out of work since The first week of October and finally heard that I go back to work next week.l YES. Northrop Grumman hired me. I will be at Martinsburg working on basically the same things as before with Navstar. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

With my time off I maanged to make a couple of things for myself and for gifts. I Found some very cool Crochet patterns that I wanted to try. www.lilygo.blogspot.com has some of the Prettiest crochet patterns I have ever seen. If you crochet BUY these patterns. The patterns come with Written directions and graphs. I will upload photos tomorrow.

Spring

Spring is on its way! I am very excited about that. Winter was tough and hard to deal with. Now that the weather is clearing up and the snow piles are gone, I want to sit on my deck and stitch or bead. I have been working alot on chain maille but in the last week stepped away from it. I have moved back to crocheting. I have several projects to complete and get off my plate then I want to start some pieces for myself that I have put off. I found several sweater patterns that I am interested in. Not to mention the need for a new doily for my new table. I also would like to create a new Bead crochet bag. I have several thoughts as to what I want to do. But need to put it all together. I have still been teaching at www.beads-and-crystals.com but cut my classes back to 2 weekends in a month. The teaching was very hard on my health. I miss it but I know it is for the best.

Holidays are almost over!

This year the holidays were much more quite and peaceful. We decided to not travel but to stay home. This meant I had to decorate but that was kinda cool since we have not done that in years. I actually had fun. We chose Blue lights for the outside of the house and it was kind of nice to have blue where as everyone else in the neighborhood had White. My Hubby decided to have the basement finished and so it has begun. At least now he can have his MAN CAVE. I have been working on a few smaller things. I have taken the UFO bag and changed the design from round bag to flat where it had 4 skulls to now it has only 2. My friend only wanted 2 and asked that her bag be flat not a bucket type. But she liked the design. So I will post pictures as I get further along. I have also been making more of the Bead crochet cuffs. I have increased the size and width. I will post pictures of those as well. I have several ideas for more jewelry but will hold those ideas til I have them on paper.

Vacation is Over

Well it is back to work and just in time for Fall. I hate that Vacation is over but at least the weather is good. I love fall and the cool time of year. I have several projects to work on. One of which is a repeat. A dear friend asked me to make another one of these.

Although here is in Black and Orange and is not in Omega...Thank goodness. I know I could not make this bag in Omega ever again. It just about killed me to do so the first time. I love this bag though. It was so cool on my cruise. Everyone thought it was too funny to have it on the Boat. I haven't been doing much crocheting but have been making Jewelry again. Trying some new designs. You all know me I change up every now and again. I am busy with my Kumihimo though. I love that Stuff.

Summer is Here

Hello to all. Hope your summer is moving along well. I am planning my next big adventure. We are heading to Florida in Sept. to meet up with friends and the girls will be cruising to Bahamas and the boys will golf....Imagine that! I am excited but of course I am wigged out too. I want to make a scarf/shawl to wear with my plan black dress. I ordered the yarn and ordered Indian Red and it finally arrived this week only to be PINK or Fuschia. UGH. So now what. If I don't start this thing I will not make it in time to take it with me. So pink it is.

This is my most recent Piece that is Tapestry Crochet. I made it in Wool Cotton blend and it is Mauve and pink. I plan to redo this and get it centered this time.....LOL

It Is What It Is

While in Florida in May, I heard my best friend Denise say "It Is What It Is!!!!" many times. I love that. And that is exactly how I feel. I found out last week I have Lupus and it was a shock for me. I have issues but I never expected that. I could tell something was wrong when I had trouble with my hands. They bothered me more and more each time I crocheted. So now I have to slow down but not stop. So for now I am trying to finish everything up. This is a Bead Crochet Cuff I designed. I love these patterns.

Ok so the surgery was OK. I had a tumor on the skull bone over my left eye and thank goodness it was in my hair line. I had to have that section of skull removed and filled in. The tumor was benign and all is over. I had a hard time with the medicines they had me on but have managed to get back to work and back to stitching. I just started the Gothic Lace Shawl.
This is how far I have gotten. It is a fun project. I believe that I have choosen the wrong thread but I don't mind since this is a test. I hope to have it completed soon and move on to a more dressy thread. I completed a small bead crochet bag that didn't turn out quite the way I had hoped. But it is cute. It is the size of my cell phone. I have been bead crocheting a small eye glass case too. It is turning out much better. I will post pics soon of those.

Out of Commission awhile

Due to medical needs I will be out of commission awhile. I have a 20mm by 5mm tumor on my Skull. They will be removing a portion of the skull bone and replacing it with a plate of steel or titanium. This will put me down a bit and hopefully there will be no cancer. If you need me contact my email over to the right. Thanks.

New Year and NEW Things

I have been really busy since the second week in December. We were in FL. for two weeks between Christmas and New Years. I was able to finish a new Arrow Shawl from Annette Petavy. I love those things. I believe I have done 4 now. I also have finished this hat

I also designed this shawl that I call Fiesta Wrap.

I recently finshed a pair of Fingerless mittens and a scarf for a friend. Pictures to follow.

Holiday Season is upon us

I am in shock. I drove through my town last week after Halloween and there it WAS!!!!!!!! Christmas decorations in town and the TREE. I think that stinks. It is just too early. I am so far behind too on gifts. I am making most of the gifts I have this year and WOW am I behind. I have been busy though. I finished this bag about 3 weeks ago.

It was a mistake made good. I was suppose to have a cowl our of this and MY HEAD is just too big. UGH.

AGAIN an attempt at Cowls got me this Bag

Don't get me wrong. I like the bags but My neck is going to freeze this winter. UGH
Scarves work so much better.

October and where did the year go?

DANG!!!! It's already Fall and today is chilly so I can't really see it's coming. Winter is around the corner. Is this good - yes and no. I love the cold but will miss shorts. I have been really busy working on stuff. I wanted so bad to finish several projects and am having a hard time doing so. Seems just too busy. I have finished these though.

Althought it has been a REALLY busy month, I have managed to get somethings complete.
I finished this and this . This is the Arrow Shawl from Annette Petavy . I did two of them for the simple fact I was experimenting. I have issues with Wool so I used cotton the first time. An egyptian cotton and then I switched to what the shop told me was a finger weight and I think it is Feather weight. This is the size of a scarf....LOL. I also have worked on these. and . I finised a sweater that I had to work on a bit.

With all the storms rolling through you would think I could get some Crocheting done. I wish!!! I have managed to Knit a Cowl I designed. Knit a Scarf I designed and a Neck Cowl that Buttons that I designed. I switched to knitting for a break. I am working on a CAL with Ravelry for the Turnberry Cardigan by TheCrochetDude. I can't wait to move on with it. I have so much I want to do but so little time. Recently we lost our Washer and Dryer and this weekend I lost the Refrigerator in our kitchen. UGH. We lost all our food and had to replace everything. One more day in paradise. Things Happen. So soon I will have some patterns available, hopefully!!

WOW. How did we get to August so quick. I guess I am lucky, I have already started Christmas shopping. COOL!! I found somethings at craft fairs for family and stashed them away. I also have some crochet I would like to finish for gifts but it has been so busy I haven't been able to keep up. My parents and sister are coming next weekend and that means cleaning and preparing for a visit. I recently commited to publishing a design so that will keep me busy for a while. I need to test my two patterns and then submit. So, well see what happens. I finished the Wrap I designed so that I will be posting soon. I need to take Pictures. I also completed a pair of wrist warmers and fingerless gloves. So winter here I come.

I am working on the below Heart Design. I created a graph for it and have started the pattern with Cotton wool blend size 3 thread. I used Plum and lavender. It is beautiful. However, I put that pattern on hold for a new Testing pattern I am working on for Carol Ventura. Her pattern is done in size 18 Omega Nylon. I am so use to smaller sized omega. I usually use size 2. So this is new for me. But I do like what is becoming the new bag. I took a small break between Elvis and the Omega bag. I made a shawl or Wrap. It is made with Senso size 3 cotton in Carmel and Tan colors. It turned out really nice. I just blocked it and need to throw on some tassells, then I will post pictures. I designed the pattern from old Motif's I had found a pattern for. After the Omega bag is done I am moving onto a stole called "Arrows" . There is alot of talk about this and I had to jump on that wagon. I bought the yarn this past week. But again I can not start that until I get done with the Omega bag.

Well I completed the Bag for the Company. It turned out better than I expected. I thought it would slant too much. Actuall there is very little slant. Which is good. Hubby and his partner like the bag enough.

My newest bag is a Beta fish. I have always loved Beta fish, in fact we have gone through several. You can see my previous beta fish experiment was with a Bead Crochet bag. Sir Carl and Captain Jack. Rw 29: Ch 2, HDC in same space - (*Slide 15 beads HDC next space do a HDC-B*). Repeat * -*, join. Turn.
Rw 30: Ch 2, HDC in same space and all across. Join.
Tie Off

At this point you can do one of two things as I mentioned above. You can Repeat this and Sew the two sides together. Or you can attach your self to the bottom and following these steps but minus the beads so that you have only a Stitched back. Both the pieces I have made I did not duplicate the front. I had stitched back only.

For the handle I crocheted a chain with a bead in each 3rd stitch. Then I attached it to the top sides of the back from the inside.

Welcome to Hurricane Designs!! So many years I crocheted. Then I knitted, then I made jewelry, Now I crochet AGAIN. I do it all actually. I like different things. However, recently I am hooked on Crochet again. Thanks to Carol Ventura and Tapestry Crochet. I have made so many bags with Tapestry Crochet. I love it. I need to move on to Bead crochet and design some new bags. I actually have on in mind. But not yet.

I will be added and updating this site as time goes by, so hang in there.
